Walk In The SpiritDo you ever wonder why you have so much trouble living the Christian life you want to live? Why it is easier to continue in the old way than to live the new life in Jesus ? How do you understand this conflict and how do you overcome it? To live the life that is going to count for something in eternity these questions must be answered. You must be an overcomer of the flesh and the world. In his letter to the church in Galatia Paul instructed them to Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh . Galatians 5:16. This continues to be relevant today. In every Christians life there is a constant warfare going on between the old nature, the flesh, against the new nature, the indwelling Spirit of God. There is no conflict until someone opens their heart to the Lord Jesus Christ and asks Him in as their savior. At that moment you are no longer just human you are now a child of God and indwelt with His Holy Spirit. You are now able to discern spiritual things. You can understand spiritual things and converse spirit to Spirit with Holy Spirit that is in you. No longer are you at the mercy of the old flesh. Now you can be an overcomer and live your life to the glory of God. There are many Christians that do not understand that their salvation is but the beginning. They believe they have been saved from hell and that is the end of the matter. But God s word tells us, you are saved to good works . You are to grow to maturity unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ . Ephesians 4:13. Understanding this is imperative in the life of a Christian. Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary, the devil, like a roaring lion walketh about, seeking whom he may devour . I Peter 5:8. Satan is real and he wants to defeat every Christian he can. The terrible truth is he is very successful. You must understand you are in a spiritual warfare. Read Ephesians chapter six. You are told we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against spiritual wickedness in high places, or the heavenlies . Ephesians 6:12. You are told to Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil . Ephesians 6:11. You are in warfare but you can be victorious. You do not have to be defeated. You have the power of God living in you, What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom ye have of God, and ye are not your own ? I Cor. 6:19:20. Two things can defeat you. Not recognizing the warfare and not fighting the battle. Too many Christians have already surrendered and don t know it. They will realize it one day, at that day, the judgment day of Christ. Then it will be too late. How about you? Are you fighting the battle? Are you relying upon Holy Spirit to guide you in all that you do? Are you living your life for God or for self?
